InDesign - 'SAVE ALL' feature adding

Hi guys, I don't know if the requests are read by developpers, but I think that could be a good idea to add a feature 'SAVE ALL' in InDesign, when using Books.

Here, in fact, I'm working for a catalog composed by more than 40 .indd files.

When I update the cross references (sorry, I don't know the name in english) of the book, when all the files are opened -> I have to save file by file the files that where modify. The same if I add a page in the firsts files... all the following files are modified and need to be saved one by one...

Thanks reading me 😉

Fred

Hi Fred,

This is a user to user forum with limited presence of Adobe engineering team. For feature request you can submit the request at the following URL, once done do post the request URL here so that others in need of this could upvote it. The more the vote the more would be the chances that it will be picked by the engineering team

Also this could also be implemented as a script, i am moving this discussion to I

Hi Fred,

try the following keyboard shortcuts:

CMD+Option+Shift+S (Mac)

CTRL+ALT+Shift+S (Win)

If you are using a French keyboard the names will be different.

On my German Windows keyboard its:

STRG + ALT + Shift + S

Don't know if that's my fingers or my keyboard, just tested the combination and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

So I wrote an ExtendScript script that would save all open documents. If a document was never saved the script will not touch it. One could assign a keyboa

Here the script code:

var openDocs = app.documents.everyItem().getElements();

for( var n=0; n<openDocs.length; n++ )
{
	// Document was never saved, do nothing:
	if( openDocs[n].saved == false ){ continue };

	// Save the document:
	var currentFile = File( openDocs[n].fullName );
	openDocs[n].save( currentFile );
};
