Hello,

We have an "InDesign Server 2020" developer edition running. If I start an instance by commandline like:

InDesignServer.com -configuration Instance1 -cometport 4711 -cometcache C:\comet\cache_instance1 -cometlog C:\comet\logs\comet1.log -cometapilog C:\comet\logs\api1.log -cometlic C:\comet\w2.lic -cometxmlparser fast -previews

It is working fine.

But if I register this as a windows-service, then it looses its licensing-information after restart and outputs even while trying the commandline again (which was working before):

Wed Apr 22 14:34:14 2020 FEHLER [Server] Adobe InDesign Server ist nicht richtig lizenziert und wird jetzt beendet.

The registration as service was done by doing:

  • InDesignServerService.msc
  • New Server Instance (no port)
  • -configuration Instance1 -cometport 4711 -cometcache C:\comet\cache_instance1 -cometlog C:\comet\logs\comet1.log -cometapilog C:\comet\logs\api1.log -cometlic C:\comet\w2.lic -cometxmlparser fast -previews -LogToApplicationEventLog
  • InDesignServerService /install

Do you have any hints, what I could also try?

Kind regards,

Peter

  1. When running IDS on a VM, licence may get deactivated if IDS notice machine configurations changes, you can mitigate this by re-licensing when machine reboot, see this article for more details https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-server-licensebecomesdeactivatedwheninstalledonavmthati...
  2. If running on a physical machine, you can re-license IDS with the offline licensing method as described here in this article https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/release-note/indesign-server-december-2019-15-release-notes.html
