Is there a way to open indesign files without locking (for creatings pdfs from merge data) so that I can use multi-instances of indesign server (without having multiple copies of each indesign file).

Thanks

No, indd files can't be open at multiple location at once. However i have a couple of ideas worth trying. See what happens if you open the indd file as a copy(i hope this is accessible via scripting), the second idea would be to save the file as indt instead of indd, that might not lock the original file and hence solve your issues. If any of these ideas work you might have to make slight changes to your script, like you won't be able to get the filepath for an unsaved document -Manan
