When I do "save As",  it put the file in wrong path automatically in last folder I saved. I alway's have to redo the path to put in the same actual folder.

When you click "Save As" are you not presented with a dialog that allows you to change the name and location of the file to be saved? The default location is the original location of the document, you will need to change it using this dialog

you can use the script to save the INDD in the same location so that you can get the document in the exact location

Hi,

Try this script it will provide the count of the document on how much time the document is saved in the exact location,

var myDocument = app.documents.item(0);
try
{
if(myDocument.modified == true)
{
myDocument.save();
}
}
catch(e)
{}
if(myDocument.modified == false)
{
if(confirm("Document saved do you want to save the document in the same folder?",true,"Save Alert") == true)
{
SaveDocument();
}
}

function SaveDocument()
{
main();
function main()
{
SaveVersion();
}
}

function SaveVersion()
{
var myDoc = app.documents.firstItem();
var myDocumentName = app.activeDocument.name;
if (myDoc.saved == true)
{
//specifies the document version number(eg:1,2,3)
var myCounter = getVersion (myDoc);
var myPathName = myDoc.filePath.fullName;
// alert("Document another version saved at : "+myPathName);
var myName = setVersionName(myDoc.name, myCounter);
//provide to save the document in the same path
File(myDoc.fullName).copy(myPathName + "/" + myName);
}
}
function getVersion(aDoc)
{
if (myMax = aDoc.extractLabel( 'theMax' ))
{
myVersion = aDoc.extractLabel( 'theVersion' )
}
else
{
do
{
myMax = 'Maximum number of versions to duplicate document please enter more than 500000', 100;
if (myMax == null)
exit();
}
while (myMax < 1)
myVersion = '0';
aDoc.insertLabel( 'theVersion', myVersion);
aDoc.insertLabel( 'theMax', myMax);
}
// Save the version data
myNewVersion = setVersion( aDoc, [myMax, myVersion]);
return myNewVersion;
}

//set version function
function setVersion( aDoc, aData )
{
myNum = Number( aData[1] );
(myNum >= Number( aData[0] )) ? myNum = 1 : myNum++;
aDoc.insertLabel( 'theVersion', String( myNum ) );
return String(myNum);
}
function setVersionName(aName, aCounter)
{
var myIndex = aName.indexOf( '.indd');
if (myIndex == -1)
{
var theNewName = aName + '_' + aCounter;
}
else
{
var theNewName = aName.substring(0, myIndex) + '_' + aCounter + aName.substring(myIndex, aName.length);
}
return theNewName;
}

Hi Annick,

what's your eaxct operating system version?

When on Mac OS X the DefaultFolderX tool could be very handy:
