I am trying to install Indesign CS3 on my 2015 pro retina MacBook with Mojave. All I get is a page of gibberish. Am I trying to do something that is not possible? I am doing it with a link that I obtained from Adobe since I no longer have the disk. Thanks!
CS3 was designed to run on Mac OS 10.4 (Leopard). Mojave is 10.14. Aside from that the installation servers for CS3 have been shut down. Either take Steve's advice and find an old computer or subscribe to Creative Cloud and upgrade to a version compatible with Mojave.

It's pretty likely NOT going to work.
You either need to upgrade to InDesign CC (with a subscription) or to run your OLD software on an OLD computer operating system. That version was never designed for the newer Mac (or Windows) operating systems. If you can't upgrade, look for a working used computer on which to run your OLD software.

I wish to get an older version of Indesign... Is that possible?

Adobe is no longer selling Creative Suite products. It only offers subscriptions to Creative Cloud. Beware of people selling old software. It's pretty likely that they are selling fake copies (e.g. those which were part of a beta program or such) which Adobe can detect and shut you down.
