LINKING TWICE TO AN EMBEDDED MP3 FILE?

having embedded a MP3 file i would like to link to the file several times in my document, keeping file size down.

Is it possible and how can it be done?

Hi Knud,

if you want to keep the file size down do not embed any placed item.

Be it an image or a media file. If you must embed your media files you have to do it for every instance.

 

Perhaps a solution, did not test it, just an idea that requires a "hack":

Import your MP3 file to a table cell in the first row of an InDesign table. Define the row as table header row.

That table needs at least three body rows. Then thread the table through three text frames with one body row each.

You'll see in the Links panel that the MP3 file is only listed once. Embed the file in the document.

 

FWIW: I have no idea if the MP3 file can be accessed three times on different pages or spreads in such a construction.
