Mailmerge pdf for client?

I'm designing a multipage document for a client who has data for merging and would like to perform the merge in her office once the document is complete. Can I provide her with the final pdf file for use with data merge? Or does the data merge need to happen in InDesign? Thanks for any help with this. Jeanne

This is a function of InDesign.

Depends on what kind of variable data and how much. There are ways. (e.g. just G**gle "data merge PDF" and you will find some methods and susggestions for special Acrobat plug-ins for the merge, but there's no way for you to specifically prepare a data merge PDF from InDesign, outside of, say, making a master with blanks where they need to insert the data.
