I'd like to know if it's possible to manually drag text content from the structure pane directly over pre-styled text frames and for the incoming content to retain this styling rather than default to basic/no paragraph style. Mapping styles to tags isn't going to work for me here.
Thanks
Mark

I'd rather let InDesign handle the formatting and styling.
The XML is very simple indeed. Five tags tops with and a sentence in each.
The structure is valid but InDesign is applying the basic paragraph style even though it is being dragged on top of text that has already had a paragraph style applied to it.
This type of workflow is similar to a data merge but that's not what I want to use.

I have the same issue. I have basic unmapped XML and I hope there's some shortcut, maybe a key to hold when dragging from structure or something similar, to ignore the default styling. It would save a lot of time each week.
