Merging book files in one InDesign file

Hello everyone,
I need to merge multiple book files into one InDesign file.

I'm using Move pages option, but all Chapter numbers and numbering lists break.

I loaded Paragraph styles, but the numbering list instead of going like 1.1 and then 2.1 after Chapter 2, just continue as 1.2, 1.3..

Any advise?
Thank you in advance!

You need to change the ^H to ^# (current level). You will probably have to review all you lists setting that was base on the chapter number.

Why do you need it all in one InDesign file? The anwer to this question could help find a solution that does not require combining the files.

Chapter numbers is a document level attribute, when you merge all documents you will loose them.

Before you merge your documents. Edit the paragraph style containing the numberered list base on chapters. Create a dedicated list, and base the numbering setting on it. Then synchronise your Book file to apply that chnage to all documents. Than merge them.

I realized that in the meanwhile and now trying how to figure out numbering list.
I assume that I should change the code in the Numbers field which is connected to the Chapter.
I'm attaching the screenshot of how it currently looks like.

Could you please adivse?
