How do I stop my text from duplicating when I convert to outlines?

I will convert the text and it gives me a copy of the outlines and the regular text behind it.

I have to delete the regular text, so it's not duplicated. Don't know if this is a preference or option I am missing. Thank you for the help.

SOLVED! It's a short cut feature under Type Menu. Remove "Create Outlines without Deleting Text. DERP!

If you absolutely must convert text to outlines, it is a safer practice to use Acrobat to convert it in the PDF. There are a lot of text and text-frame attributes that get lost when it is done in InDesign.

Lets focus first on WHY you convert text to outlines, we do not live in the 90's of the previous century anymore...
