Myriad Variable Concept typefaces do not print

I've created several styles utilizing standard and custom instances of Myriad Variable Concept and applied them to my document. The problem is that none of it prints. When I use the same instances in Illustrator there is not problem.

Has anyone else run into this issue and is there a solution?

HI,

Can you describe a bit more clearly what you are trying to achieve?

Can you confirm if I got this correctly:

  • You are designing a layout in InDesign
  • You are using Paragraph and Character styles using fronts from the Myriad family
  •  You are using variables? (if this is the case, can you specify which ones?)
  • When you print, your design is not appearing on paper
  • When you use the font called Myriad in illustrator, it prints correctly

Please include a screenshot of your InDesign screen with the Layers and Styles panels opened.

What colour do you use for your styles?

I am having the same problem. I am suprised that exporting to PDF as a work around is considered to be a solution of the problem. It seems a bug that needs to be solved. Are there any other solutions??

As these are called "concept  fonts" there may be issues, particularly with older versions of InDesign.

By the way, it's a normal and recommended workflow to export InDesign documents to PDF – usually PDF/X-4 – for printing.
