Page contents don't shift when applying a different MASTER PAGE

I'm working on a large book (with chapters in individual InD files). Some chapter files need to switch from beginning a left page start to become a right-page start. I have those master pages already made. When I apply, say a left-hand start, to an existing right-hand start, everything works well, EXCEPT for the contents on page one which do not shift over. (The items that l in the master have moved as expected).

Is there a way to get page contents to shift to meet margins when selecting the new master page? (sample pic, text boxes are blacked out to project contract data, but you can see the margin/box differences.)
