Happy to help.

It's, at its easiest, a three-step process:

  1. Create your master pages for producing the entire book. Set up your LH master page with the title of the book and the author in the folio the way you like it. That will be the same for every page of the book.
  2. Fill your folio on the RH master page with dummy text — I use a mirroring layout with lots of capital "X" characters — so you can clearly see that the wrong text is in the RH master page folio line. Save that document as your t

Save that document as your template for the book — an .indt file.
  3. Create a new document (an .indd file) from that template for each chapter of your book. The first thing you do is go to the master page layout for your chapter document and replace the dummy text with the appropriate chapter and topic information. If you don't do that immediately, when you notice that the right-hand pages for the chapter are all filled with XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, go to the master pages for that chapter and replace the dummy text with the appropriate chapter and topic information. And when you finish laying out the chapter, look at the right-hand page folio line and make sure it doesn't say XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and contains the correct chapter and topic information. If it doesn't, go to the master pages for that chapter and replace the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with the appropriate chapter and topic information.

I apologize if this reads as redundant, but it emphasizes that you'll have lots of opportunity to make things right if you set it up like this and pay attention to your work. Take those three steps and you'll do fine.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your book.
