Hi all
Using all latest versions of cc apps on most up to date mac os
Copying text in illustrator
Pasting into an indesign text box.
Nothing
Zero.
Always remember being able to this.
Did adobe regress even further and break this too?
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I apologize if this is already in a different thread but I searched and couldn't find a satisfactory answer.
Thanx

Select the type in illustrator using the type tool - by highlighting the text.
Then in an active text box using the type tool - you can paste direclty.
Or you can put the text into a CC Library and import that directly to InDesign

I sort of knew that.
I AM selecting the text with text tool.
I AM pasting into a text box.
However, as my post says it's doing nothing.
Nothing happening.
No text coming in.

It's strange that it's not working.
Reset both your Illustrator and InDesign preferences and see if it helps.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about this. Would you mind sharing the version of OS & InDesign? Have you tried resetting preferences as suggested earlier? If not, please try doing that & let us know if it helps.
**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to your response.
Regards,
Ashutosh

When I highlight formatted text in Illustrator and then Copy and Paste into InDesign, I get the AI text, but without its AI formatting. Why you're not getting the same is a mystery to me.

Is it possible that the text is white and therefore not showing?
If that is not the case, you can try resetting the preferences file.

Do you have an object above the InDesign text box with text wrap applied? The object may be hidden (Object> Show all on spread) or on a hidden layer.

Did you try resetting preferences?
You can open Preferences > General, click the Reset Preferences button. Close Illustrator, and then restart Illustrator.
OR
If resetting preferences doesn't work, you may need to uninstall/reinstall Illlustrator using the Adobe CC Cleaner tool.

Hi ArtScrollCreative,
I think to solve this we need a sample document where you see this.
Plus the exact version numbers of the software: Illustrator and InDesign. Also your operating system version.
Just put a sample AI file on Dropbox or a similar service and share the download link.
Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
