When opening more than one indesign file from the network at the same time, I experience trouble. It becomes very slow. Any suggestions?

Working over a network requires that the network be compatible with whatever version of InDesign that you are using and which operating system that you are on. Many times networks are not updated to the most up to date versions in order to accommodate security and firewall software. This certainly affects the performance of programs such as InDesign as well as causing issues with your operating system. Speak to your network administrator to find out if your network has been made compatible with your needs.

In the meantime follow Mike's advice about working on a copy of the files on your local drive.

It is often better to copy the InDesign file to the local hard drive since sometimes network connections arent nearly as fast response as the computer's hard drive.
