Saving a file for older ID program

Hello everyone,

I would like to order the latest versions of the Adobe package (student versions). The important question is whether I can save projects made in this new version (I think it will be 16.0.) in an older version so that someone with an older InDesign program (e.g. 15.0) can open them. If this is not possible, please advise how this situation can be solved (so that two people with two different InDesign versions can work on a project made in ID 15.0.)

Thank you in advance. 🙂

Anyone with InDesign 2020 attempting to open a 2021 file would be prompted to allow Adobe to convert it online. But as a subscriber you can also install InDesign 2020 along side InDesign 2021.

You can export your document in IDML format. IDML can be opened in an older version. What you need to keep in mind is not to use features only available in the latest version i.e. 16, because those features won't be present when opened in a previous version and hence your document would appear different on both the versions of InDesign.

And to add to Manan's reply, make sure you both use the same OTF fonts.
