I am building a manual in indesign. However, the client wants 5 different versions of the manual. They want to omit certain pages from different versions. I can do that with alternative layout or by saving a new indesign document no problem. However, if I make changes to it, I have to copy and past the changes on every page that I do for each version. Is there any way that I can sync pages so that I don't have copy and paste each time?
You can place InDsign pages into another InDesign document. Changes to te source document will be updated where those pages are placed.
Links Panel menu button > Link Options > Update Link When Saving Document
An entirely different approach would be Edit > Place and Link which is for content like textframes
