synchronizing documents

I feel like there used to be a feature in ID where you could tag elements so that a "child" document could draw its content from the "parent." I have a client who wants to do two sizes of the same weekly flyer. I thought this was a feature of ID at one point. Am I imagining things? I would prefer not to format the entire flyer twice if I don't have to. Thanks in advance for answers.
