Hey there,

I need to create a book, and I turned the "chapters" text into an object through the Pathfinder tool, but now the chapters aren't showing up on the Table of Content anymore because it is no longer a text.

Any advice?

If you want a book TOC to be created, it depends on applying text styles (text, not objects) consistently to each TOC level. TOCs don't understand objects so using Pathfinder isn't going to work.

If you have an example of how you want the TOC to look, you could provide more information.

Thank you for replying!

I applied the pathfinder on the chapter's text because every time I exported my file to ePub, the font changed.

This is how the font was supposed to look like:

and this is how the font appears if I don't use the pathfinder

Is there any other thing I can do to keep the font like in the first image but without converting it into an object?

Oops, you didn't say you're talking about an >>EPUB TOC<<. I don't look at tags so I missed your EPUB tag.

You'll have to get someone else to help with an EPUB TOC, quite a different thing than what I thought you were doing, I created a few EPUBs years ago, but I can't remember some of the details. I assume you mean reflowable EPUB, or do you mean Fixed Layout EPUB?

I do remember enough to guess it would probably require EMBEDDING the font you're using.

Thank you so much!

For as long as I remember, I think I cannot embed a font only, can I? I reckon I have to embed the whole document, but I'd like to embed the chapter's text but not the whole book, so I don't know how to do this.
