Thanks to everybody's kind help I am moving along setting up my document.
Problem: Almost all my text is in text frames with the column count set to 2 columns. Now usually the top and the bottom of each column are exactly aligned. But from time to time there is a slight difference between them at the bottom (i.e. one column ends just a few points before its counterpart)
Is there a way to force ID to always EXACTLY aligning the length of the columns?
Here is a screenshot showing the problem (text is Hebrew, don't worry about that)
As you can see the left column is lower than the right one....
Thanks so much
Susan
Have you looked up and acquainted yourself with Baseline Grids? It is a philosophy where all the body text of the page is forced to snap to the baseline grid spacing (like a leading spacing, aka a line height spacing).
Mike's answer will align all baselines, including the bottom baseline.
Alternatively, select the frame—or better yet, the primary frame on the master pages if you are using one—and set the Vertical Justification to Align: Justify in Object > Text Frame Options. This aligns the first line(s) with the top of the frame and the last line(s) with the bottom of the frame and feathers the spacing in between.
