Unable to add assets to CC Libraries in InDesign after updating to v16.3.2 on macOS

Our group updated to 16.3.2 this morning and are now unable to drag & drop anything into the Creative Cloud Libraries in InDesign (we all get the dreaded Mac 'dink' noise). One of our users is still using 16.2.1 on her laptop without this issue.

We tried creating a new library, in thoughts that the old one might be corrupted, but that didn't work either. It only let us add one new item, then 'dinked' everything after that.

We can only add items to the Library through the Creative Cloud app, but this is unworkable for us as we need items within the documents in the Library and they can't be cross-dragged from the document window into the CC app (file-type unsupported errors).

Help! Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry you are facing this issue. We see the problem and will try to deliver a fix when it's possible.
There is a workaround you can use for now - if you switch your Libraries Panel view to "View by Group", drag and drop assets from canvas to Panel works as expected!

Thank you,

Did you try logging out of the Creative Cloud accounts and back in? Are the computers using Apple's M1 chip?

First thing we tried. And no, we're using older iMacs.

Hi there.

Sorry about the trouble. In addition to the questions asked above, could you please share a few more details like:

  • macOS version
  • Is the plus icon on the bottom of the CC Libraries panel is clickable or greyed out?
  • Do you get any errors while adding assets to the CC Libraries? If yes, please share the screenshot.
  • Does restarting the app & the machine help to resolve the issue?
  • Did Sign out and Sign in within the InDesign help to resolve the issue?
  • Does resetting InDesign Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/user-guide.html/in/indesign/using/setting-preferences.ug.html) help to resolve the issue?
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,
Anshul Saini

Hi Anshul - thanks for responding.

  • We're dialed back a bit on the OS - running Mojave 10.14.6.
  • The plus icon is on the bottom of the CCL window.
  • No error messages, just the 'dink' noise that indicates it isn't working.
  • Sign out/in was the first thing we tried to no avail.
  • Purging all the prefs didn't work either.

This is what we did discover - the 'plus' icon on the bottom of the window is functional. It's something we'd never used before. So it would appear, for us, this update only broke the drag & drop functionality. Irritating, but workable for now.

I would like to if you are still facing this issue. If yes, please share a sample file with us. You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here or via DM.

Hi @TaraRebeka:

@Anshul_Saini works for Adobe and should be able to help.

Until that happens, you might want to consider rolling back to a working version. I recommend not updating the day or even the week of a release. Let someone else go through the heartache and update after you get the all-clear.
