I want to make a new file in InDesign but everytime I click on the button for creating a new file just nothing happens. The button is displayed perfectly fine and not greyed out or something. I can make all my adjustments for the page.

Preview also doesn't show up.

I tried to deinstall and install InDesign again with and without preinstalled settings. Still I can't create a new file.

Which version of InDesign and OS?
How much RAM and spare disk capacity do you have?

File > New > Document then enter the specifications Intent, Page Size, Facing Pages (or not), Orientation, Margins, Columns etc.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this trouble. I am hopeful that the issue is fixed by now. If not, please try the suggestions shared below and let us know it goes:

  • Rename CEP folder from following locations.
    MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe  to CEP.old
    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP

  • If that doesn't help, rename extensions folder from
    MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP to extensions.old
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP

While performing each step, please make sure that InDesign and other Adobe apps are closed.

Feel free to let us know if you still need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Regards,

Srishti
