Hi, can you confirm the exact version of your Operating System and software.

Is this a new issue (it worked ok before) after changing/updating something?

Hi, I have the same problem. I cannot print two-sided. I opened print booklet > printer  and in the printer settings I am not allowed to print two-sided which I can normally (outside of Indesign) do. It says I need to select plain paper to do so, but I cannot select plain paper (it is grayed out), only higher quality papers. What can I do?

Export a proper single page PDF and use Acrobat's booklet feature to print it.

So this basically works, but in order to print it two-sided, I still need to select plain paper and a normal quality. Is there any way that I can get a high quality two-sided print?

It sounds like a printer or print driver issue.

I also can't print double-sided using InDesign. My printer can, double-sided is selected in the menu, it just ignnores that somehow. I think it used to work before. I've also tried from Acrobat with a pdf but it results in a white strip in between my pages.

You are probably getting a white strip between pages in Acrobat because your pdf has bleed. Either export a pdf without bleed and marks and print to booklet, or use a work-around described here:
