You might consider screenshotting a video frame and saving it as a jpg and using the jpg as the poster.

Hello Mike. Thank you for your answer. I was not asking for the process to get the frame, but how to set it in inDesign. The problem is that when the public online version is downloaded into a pdf, the video only shows as a black rectangle with the text "your browser can't play this video"; and what I would like to have is a poster frame of the video instead.
