Why cant I pick my own color?

Please see attachment. 

 

That little box with the slashes in it will not let me pick ANY colors. It blocking everything. Did I click something I shouldnt have?

The color theme tool allows you to click on a color in the layout/picture and then the color theme tool proceeds to build out a set of colors based on the color you clicked on. By clicking the flyout button, you can choose from among several color theme rules such as complementary, etc.

 

Embedded under the color theme tool is the simpler eyedropper tool, for simply sampling a color (among other things). 

 

If neither tool is working, you might be clicking over an empty frame that is stacked above your color image. This may be preventing you from sampling any colors.
