Why would font from one document not copy to another document

We use a corporate font family (Univers).  When I copy a text box (with univers font ) from one document and paste into a completely new document - the font is changes to Minion Pro.  Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct this?  It's creating inefficiencies in the workflow.

Thank you!

Hi,

Did you try installing the font on the system or is it a document font?

Also, do the two documents have paragraph styles of the same name? What i mean is...

1. One document (D1) has text with style P1 having Univers font

2. The other document (D2) has style with the same name as D1 ie. P1 having font set to Minion Pro

3. You copy that text frame from D1 in to another document (D2)

In this case your style P1 of document D2 will be applied to the text frame.

Otherwise, start with restoring your cach

indeed, if this font is not installed in the system, and just loaded from the "Documents fonts" folder then this might be the case...

@sk22971716 have you tried to "Paste in place"? How about adding this text box to CC library and then place it from there to another document?

Hi,

there are different scenarios where the font formatting will not travel from one doc to the next:

Document A: Your [Basic Paragraph Style] is set to "Univers"

Document B: Your [Basic Paragraph Style] is set to "Minion Pro"

1. Copy text formatted with [Basic Paragraph Style] from A to B.

2. Copy text formatted with a custom paragraph style "My paragraph Style Name" is based on [Basic Paragraph Style] from A to B.

And only the font weight was changed in "My paragraph Style Name". Or something else like fill color etc.pp., but not the font.

My recommendations:
1. Never base a custom paragraph style on [Basic Paragraph Style].

2. Never change the [Basic Paragraph Style]

Regards,
Uwe
