I'm trying to insert a Youtube video by url but the option is greyed out in the Media panel in version 15.1.2
I'm creating a Publish Online doc. Has this feature been dropped? Is there a workaround?
Haven't tried with Publish Online but go to Youtube and copy the embed code there. Then use the object >insert html command in InDesign.

Hello Nuallain!
You need to have a place holder created\selected for the url in order for the option not to be greyed out.

Thanks, Mike, that worked. Looks like I needed to select an empty placeholder. Now the problem is that, 'The url must contain http:// as prefix and reference mp4 or mov video formats". But the YouTube url begins with https and doesn't refer to a file format.

The media panel is used for embedding local video files. For a Publish Online doc + youtube video, use a button with a URL link to the youtube video.

Thanks, Jeffrey. So it's not possible to embed the video in the Publish Online document?

AFAIK It's not possible to embed a youtube video.

The method Bob suggests does not actually embed the video, rather is an iframe to the video.
