P: Synchronize folder does not import new images unless show import dialog is active

Lightroom CC 2015.2 does not import new images with "Synchronize folder" unless "Show import dialog before importing" is ticked and imported that way. It does show that there are X new images to import, but just gives "No photos or videos were found to import." dialog after pressing "Synchronize". Using Windows 10 and images are on a mapped network drive. This has worked fine with all previous versions dating back to LR 3 or so when I started using it and definitely still with 2015.1.1 yesterday.

HYPHENS ARE THE PROBLEM.
Try renaming those files that aren ́t being imported, removing the hyphens in the filenames, and it works.

Thanks so much for replying, John. But it is so strange, for a while now I haven't been given that panel. Now to get anything similar I have to click the arrow on the bottom left side and I get this pop up window. Maybe it is the version I am using?

Thx again for replying. The only option I get on the right hand side when I click that is "apply during import" with the options in the pic. I don't quite remember when or why that changed but I was so busy I just sort of made do. Wish I had chased it then!

In my opinion, having hidden places to click like that is poor UI design.

Problem: Same reporting of photos when synchronizing, but not doing the import.
Cause: Photos that were not imported were all duplicates of photos already in catalog.
Solution: Get rid of the duplicates.

In my case, I had to check the "Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate photos" for the synchronize folder function to work.
