The translations used in the French versions of LR Classic and LR are not precise:

To delete = Supprimer
to remove = retirer

..... or only "retirer" or "delete from the Lightroom catalog".

What is perhaps missing in the staf of the developers of software, it is probably vallable for all big firms, they are true translators specialized in job as in a lot of jobs is. When they let the automatic translators do job, there really remains a lot of vagueness! normally they translate the foreign language, towards its own mother tongue otherwise this gives this....

Hi,

It is always possible to customize the translations. Just open C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Resources\fr\TranslatedStrings_Lr_fr_FR.txt, find the command for which you want to change the translation, relaunch LR and that's it. Make a backup of the file before proceeding.

This is not the right solution, it will redo this update during each editing of this file .....

I think that when a translation generates a lot of questions in the forums, misunderstandings for users, it is normal that the author of the software remediate or at least study the thing in order to eventually correct this in versions   come.

In computing do small editing like this one in its corner is never a good idea ... and it's been more than thirty years that I make the help-desk etc ... and training users, I have a little experience ....

And as I do not work on Windows, but on Mac ... It is even more right to think about correcting from above and not by local installation!

I have also been in the software business for a very long time as a developer, consultant and system engineer. You'll never get a universal agreement about the kind of modification you are requesting. So, you have a way to adapt the UI to you wishes. But Adobe will not adapt to you.

> it will redo this update during each editing of this file

I don't understand your statement but anyway : if LR is updated (and the translation file as well), you just need to have a copy of your own translation file made before the update, load both files in a text comparison tool and re-insert your customized translations. That's easy.

Adobe have not been able to provide a keyboard customization tool (fortunately we have the Keyboard Tamer plugin). And this has been requested many years ago. So, don't expect them to react to a request like yours. Just don't dream of it. The translation file is the only way to customize the keyboard (Keyboard Tamer is an interface to this text file) and the translations. That's what you have for now and this will not change before long, if ever.

So , your only choice is to use it.

Lightroom Classic 9.0 was released earlier today and contained a fix for this issue. Please give it a try and confirm it is working for you after updating. Thanks for your patience.
