P: 1280x1024 Resolution the Right Hand Module Picker is truncated

Hi,

Please look at this:

Screenshot--2021-11-16_193438.jpg

Monitor resolution: 1280 x 1024. LR maximized. With LR in window mode, the module selector even disappears by the right of the window.

Problem appeared with LR 11. Same issue after latest update, 11.0.1.

A solution would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html#troubleshooting

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the second link.

Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com)

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Since the update to 11.0 the module picker on the top right is not shown completely anymore (see screenhot). I had hoped that this issue would be solved with the following updates, but even with 11.3.1 it still exists. I have tried to resolve it by adjusting the font size, but it makes no difference: I do not see all modules in the module picker anymore.

Please do the menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here. That will provide details about your display and graphics hardware, as seen by LR.

Have you tried hitting that Maximize/Restore button once or twice? I have seen this problem with other programs and hitting that button seemed to make the program recheck the screen size.

I don't think you posted a full-resolution screenshot, so we can't verify the resolution of your display (the screenshot is 999 x 799). If you post the contents of Help > System Info here, we can verify you're on a screen that's 1280 x 1024 or smaller -- Adobe has acknowledged a bug where LR truncates the module picker along the top.

But before we merge your report with that bug report, let's confirm your display size.

Workarounds for the truncated module picker:

- Do the menu commands Window > Library, Develop, Slideshow, etc.

- Use the keyboard shortcuts listed next to those commands.

To increase the font size in LR window, change Preferences > Interface > Font Size. Note, however, that LR has numerous glitches in the user interface when you do that, and Adobe has never prioritized fixing those glitches.

I have not yet seen these two suggestions to try-

1) [Right-Click] the Module Menu Bar and un-check modules you may never use.

2022-05-12 10_07_09-Lightroom Catalog-v11 - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic - Book.jpg

2) Open the Identity Plate Editor and reduce the Font Size of the Module Menu items.

I'm paying my hard-earned money for something slower and slower, heavier and heavier, more and more unusable, that isn't even capable after three updates of correctly displaying its own module selector (see https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-1280x1024-resolution-the-right-hand-module-p...).

Before, this invention would boot up in seconds. Now I spend endless moments admiring how things shake on the screen before I can do anything.

I understand that a functionality can be transformed into something more complex that needs more resources. I also understand that new features may need more machine. But I do not understand this loss of agility in the interface, already simply starting LR. Throughout the versions, the increase in startup time has been not only noticeable, but a hindrance to our work.

I'm starting to get fed up enough to seriously think about other options. Which there are. Please take note.

Greetings, and thank you for reading me.

You can corner my message (you know which one) as much as you want. It's not a tantrum, it's a message to be read by you, Adobe employees. The old days are gone. Now it is impossible to write you a letter anywhere, to send you reflections, observations; the company has protected itself from that and has isolated customers in the fold of a community, ignoring them or giving them the runaround if it suits it.

All this can't be good. Neither for us, customers (not "users", no. Customers) nor for the company. Think about it and see what you can do about it.

Regards.

I have the same bug of truncated module picker (none of the suggestions fixes it) and have been using the pain in the neck  work arounds but I also cannot see the cloud icon for syncing with LR mobile (which would be to the right of the missing module picker) and so I cannot use it and therefore cannot use LR mobile properly either!!!. Is there a work around for that? And given this whole thing was first reported last fall is there really any hope Adobe intends to fix it?
