P: Crash when using auto-mask (brush) on B&W picture (severe crash)

Hi, I'm using LR for both Digital picture and large scanned films.
When I use the brush with the automask "on" to develop a 16bits gray level tiff (Hasselbald films 7000*7000 pixel), LR crashes with no recovery possible:
- the screen is frozen
- I've to kill LR with the task manager (I'm under Windows7)
- the catalog isn't working anymore (if I reopen it, it will crash every time I go to this photo)
- so I've to restart from the last back-up (wich costed me a few hours of work).

I don't know if this issue is new or not as I've never tested it before 3.5 but I got it both on 3.5RC & 3.5 official.

For me it's the first time that I've encountered an issue that is really blocking my work. I'd like to have the "automask" work on B&W TIFF (based on a gray-level range) or at least the "auto mask" inhibited on these photos, but it's very difficult to stay with a system where if I forget to turn automask OFF I can lose hours of work.

If you want them, I can send the real data.
