Hello,
over quite a long time it was easy to take photos with my android smart phone in heic format and import it and use it in LrC on my iMac.
But suddenly, the heic images are not supported any more by LrC - they can still be open on the iMac. It's possible to load the files to the cataloge, but not even the preview in LrC is working.

Unfortunatelly I can not upload these files here. I put them to my nextcloud server - hopefully the link will not break:
https://cloud.hoststar.at/s/DjLJT22oZ8HofDk

Can please somebody explain, whats the reason why the one file is supported and the other one not?
And my be even tell me, what to do to make the not supported image work with LrC?
(Until I have no better idea, I have to convert all my not any more supported heic files to jpgs and import then and for new pictures, I also have to use jpg as file format. You can imagine - this workarround is something I don't like to go...)

Note: also Photoshop Lighroom is not able to fully support the latest heic files, but at least a preview is shown. However - I can not work with these files.
See screenshot attached.

I observe the same misbehavior in my LR 11.4.1 / Mac OS 12.4.  But interestingly, my LR 11.4.1 / Windows 10 imports both photos just fine.

Until relatively recently, Adobe said LR only supported .heic files from Apple devices.  But now they support photos from both iOS and Android:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/kb/heic-files-support.html

So looks like a bug.

What device was used to capture each file?

Have any other programs or apps modified either file?

Hi! The images have been captured both by using a Samsung Galaxy A71. There was no postprocesding done. Only pure filetransfere from phone to hard drive of iMac and then import to LrC (and Photoshop LR - dirket import from phone: as shown in screenshot, (latest) files somehow are shown, but can not be edited. )

Im pretty sure there is some differenz in the images what make LrC troubles... but what? Are the files wrong? Is my phone creating corrupt files? Is LrC interpreting the heic standard not entierly correct?

Quite interesting:
I downloaded the files from nextcloud share posted above to a Windows 10 PC. There the files could both files be imported and used, see first screenshot, with some older version fo LrC and CameraRaw but also with latest versions available right now, see other screenshot .

I compared Exiftool output for both photos, and the only significant difference I saw was that one had been rotated in-camera 270 degrees.  Here's the diff of the output of "exiftool -a -G" on both files:
