P: Importing Portrait HEIC + XMP files does not recognize face region

Community Beginner ,
Oct 27, 2020 Oct 27, 2020

Steps:

-Import HEIC photos into LR Classic.

-Use facial detection to frame and tag photos

-Save Metadata to File.

-Verify Region info is in XMP file

-Delete Imported photos

-Re-Import Photos (with XMP file)

-No longer detects the face regions/names

-BUT... only for portrait photos. Works fine with landscape or photos rotated to landscape

@smit_k

This didn't seem to be resolved in the 10.1 update. Any word on when this will be resolved?

It also appears to be the case when importing portrait JPG files as well. When tagging these photos in LR Classic and opening in other programs, the face regions stick. But just when re-importing those portrait JPG/HEIC+XMP files, LR Classic doesn't read the Face Region even though it's in the XMP or JPG Metadata.
