P: iPhone 16 Pro Max has too generic model name in meta data

Community Beginner ,
Dec 12, 2024 Dec 12, 2024

Version: Lightroom 10.1.1

Platform: iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 18.2

Pictures taken with Lightroom Mobule iOS on the iPhone 16 Pro Max have just "iPhone" as model name in the meta data. Previous iPhone models such as iPhone 13 Pro had their exact model name embedded. This makes it really cumbersome to filter in certain parts of Lightroom. Please check the attached images. Note the generic "iPhone" model name for the iPhone 16 compared to the exact model name for the iPhone 13 Pro.

I am not sure if this is a Classic bug or iPhone/Mobile bug. I've logged an issue with the Classic team to investigate.

Thank you for the report!

Thanks for looking into it.

It's easy to reproduce and a Lightroom Mobile bug for sure. Also I have the suspicion this has changed for all iPhone and iPad models since LR Mobile v10.

steps to reproduce:

- take a RAW picture with the LR cam in LR Mobile on iOS

- look at the metadata of the captured DNG

- model name is generic, e.g. iPhone or iPad and not the specific model, like iPhone 16 Pro Max etc

The Team has requested a sample file that illustrates the problem. Can you provide a file for review?

If possible:

One shot from Lightroom iOS mobile app.

Other shot from Apple Camera App

Hey, please download the zipped images. The Zip archive contains three images, the LR mobile RAW and two images from the Apple iPhone Photo app (HEIC and RAW). Thanks

Unfortuntely this download doesn't contain any raw files. Can you supply raw files instead?
