P: Local Adjustement preset incorrectly listed in the history panel as “Mask1: Update Point Colors”

Explorador ,
Nov 08, 2023 Nov 08, 2023

I defined several mask presets early in LrC 12, primarily settings for Clarity and Saturation and combinations of the two. After upgrading to LrC 13.0.1 last week, I noticed something that seems strange. While the history for images where I used one of those presets shortly before upgrading, the history panel shows something like “Mask1: Update Refine Saturation Adjustment” (which make sense, but isn’t as clear as using the name of the preset like “Mask1: Clarity +50” or “Mask1: Clarity +50 Saturation +50” would be IMO), but if I apply any of these presets now (after upgrading to LrC 13.0.1), the history panel shows “Mask1: Update Point Colors” which seems completely wrong, since I have never used the new point color either globally or in a Mask.  I also tried creating a new, identical preset, with a different name, and when I apply it the history panel shows “Mask1: Update Point Colors” just like with the preset created earlier.

I've attached a couple of my mask presets, but I see similar behavor with the built in mask presets like Burn (Darken) and Teeth Whitening.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2

When I try to attach them, I get messages like "The attachment's clarity +50.lrtemplate content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.".  I tried creating a zip file, but got a message saying zip files are not supported.  How do I attach these files?

@Rikk Flohr: Photography

The bug is perfectly reprducible.

Steps:

1. In masking create a new correction with any Tool (e.g  Linear Gradient)

1. Apply a Local Adjustment preset, a non Adobe one (e.g Clarity +50 , Saturation +50)

Actual result: History states

"Name of the Correction: Update Point Colors"

Mask 1: Update Point Colors

Expected Result: History should sate "Name of the Correction: Name of the Local Adjustment preset. "

Mask 1: Clarity +50, Saturation +100

.

It appears this only occurs with multiple sliders in the Local Adjustment Preset.  A single slider preset doesn't appear to affect the History panel adversely.

I see the issue with both of the mask presets in the linked zip file.  One of them (Clarity +50) has changes only to one slider (the Clarity slider).  I also saw the issue when I applied a builtin preset (e.g. Burn (Darken) or Teeth Whitening).

Hi Rikk,

I reverted from LrC 13.0.1 back to 12.5 after discovering this bug, because I was worried if I continued applying local adjustment presets using 13.0.1 I might end up with poor/bad information in the history in the catalog, which would be there forever, even after the bug gets fixed. This bug was not fixed in LrC 13.1 so I didn't update and I now see it isn't fixed in 13.2 either.  Can you check with the development engineers(if necessary)  and let me know if I'm going end up with bad info in the catalog if I update to 13.x and apply local adjustment presets?

I just updated to 13.2, and while the behavior has changed slightly, the problem doesn't seem to be fixed.  When I apply a local adjustment preset (that I created) that increases the clarity or saturation, or both, the history entry aways says "Mask1: Update Point Curve".  I will point out that when I apply a similar global adjustment preset the history entry says"Preset: Clarity +50", "Preset: Vibrance +50, or "Preset Clarity +50 Vibrance +50".  I would expect something similar when applying local adjustment presets.

Again, can you tell me if the history data in the catalog is bad which means the displayed history will always be incorrect or if the data in the catalog is correct and the problem is just in how it is displayed in the history panel.

I'm reverting to 12.5 again until I can get confirmation that I'm not putting bad data in my catalog.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography The bug is NOT fixed.

I created a Local Adjustment Preset that sets "Clarity +30"

When I use it history states "Update Point Curve"

@vbnut

Revering back to 12.5 is not advisable.

There are several bugs in 12.5 that are way more serious and problematic than this one..those been have fixed in 13.2

Work in 13.2

If you need to apply ONE local setting then do not use Local Adjustment Presets.

If you need to set multiple local settings with a Local Adjustment preset then LrC will not name the step correctly.

I filed internally a bug that is the root of this bug as well: LRD-4215460
