In Lightroom Classic grid mode, the top toolbar now covers part of the grid. In full-screen mode I can't even see the file names. Is this something I can fix here?top tools.jpgfull grid.jpg

Acutally the issue is only in full-screen mode. When LR is in a window, I can scroll to see the top line of the grid, in full-screen that doesn't work.

I'm afraid I look at the screen capture of the full-screen grid and I don't see the problem you described.

Please tell us the  version NUMBER of LrC and the version NUMBER of your operating system. We need version NUMBERs and not words like "up-to-date" or "latest".

LRC 14.5.1

Mac OS 26.0.1

Here's a screenshot of the full screen, scrolled as high as it'll go. Hiding/revealing the top tools recreates the same..fullscreen.jpg

Maybe this isn't the answer you are expecting, but LrC not certified on Mac OS 26

Maybe this isn't the answer you are expecting, but you can toggle the top menu bar on and off with F5.

Does sliding the scroll bar at the right up or down make a difference?

That wasn't the answer I was expecting.. but fair comment. I'll look out for updates and hope they fix the issue.

Toggle and scroll bar make no difference. On the MacBook screen the issue only appears if LrC has been opened on my secondary screen already. Opening on MacBook displays the issue but scrolling does fix it. If I have LrC open on the other display and turn that display off, LrC remains broken on the MacBook.

Bonjour,

Hey, @BB40. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Did Lightroom close normally the last time it worked, or is this a fresh installation of Lightroom Classic v15 on this machine? Try these steps:

  • Reset Lightroom by holding the OPT + SHIFT when you launch Lightroom and select 'Yes'.
  • Ensure Lightroom Classic has the required permissions on macOS: https://adobe.ly/3DyUwsz

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

@Sameer K Important update : the issue ONLY exists when my MacBook Pro is connected to my Appel Studio Display screen. If not using the Studio Display, no pb.

This fixes it for me.. thanks BB40

But it does mean the menu bar remains visible when I"m trying to edit full-screen. Issue persists in LR Classic 15.0

Hello,

since a while some UI elements on top of the LR Classic screens are missing / wrongly displayed in full screen mode.

It always happens if the top UI bar (which includes the LR logo/username, module access, etc.) is enabled and LR Classic is working in full screen mode on my MacOS Tahoe26.1. on an external 4K display, which is my preferred setup which was working well for years.

Some (not all) of the bugs I notice then - may all share the same root cause:

- In Library grid mode, the top menu bar to select filters (text, attribute, metadata, ...) is not visible, it gets visible only if the top UI bar is closed.

- In Library and Develop single image mode

-- the text overlay in the upper corners are only partially visible, again, it gets visible only if the top UI bar is closed.

-- when hiding the graphical menu using the "L" shortcuts, the frame surrounding the image is wrongly placed on top of the image

Hi @astrosven,

Thank you for the detailed description. I can confirm I’m able to reproduce this behavior on my end as well.

• Tested on macOS Tahoe 26.2 with Lightroom Classic 15.1
• The issue appears in full-screen mode when the top UI (Module Picker) is enabled
• Unchecking Window > Panels > Show Module Picker in full-screen does reveal additional UI space & settings/ Toggles, which aligns with what you’re seeing
• I can also reproduce similar behavior in older versions, including LrC 14 and LrC 10, which suggests this is not a regression limited to 15.x

Given this, the behavior does not appear to be system-specific and is reproducible across different versions and setups. I’ve shared these findings with the product team so they can investigate the root cause and UI layout handling in full-screen mode on macOS.

Thank you for clearly documenting the symptoms and for your patience while this is reviewed.

Best regards,
Anshul Saini

Here's the setup - Lightroom Classic 15.1 on a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro, Tahoe 26.2, using built-in display and one external monitor, Lightroom Classic in full screen on one monitor.

It will randomly jump to a smaller window and no longer take up the whole screen when interacting / clicking on something on the second monitor.  There seems to be no logic to when it will do this.  The only way to get it back to full screen is to click on Lightroom Classic on the second monitor, and do the full screen command (Funcion-F or the green button) once to get it back to a regular window, then a second time to make it full screen again.

It has done this for me for the last few years I have been using Lightroom Classic, through version updates and OS upates.

I uploaded a video that shows Lightroom Classic in full screen on a second monitor, with Quicktime open on the built-in display.  When I quit Quicktime, Lightroom suddenly no longer takes up the full screen of the second monitor.  This is the effect, but almost any click on the built-in monitor will cause it to happen - seemingly at random.

Hi @chrisfreeman804, thanks for reaching out!
Sometimes this happens when you’re using multiple displays with different aspect ratios. I’m not sure if the same steps apply on Mac, but here’s something you can try that worked with Windows:
• Find the Lightroom Classic app file, right-click it, and choose Properties
• In the Properties window, go to the Compatibility tab
• Click Change High DPI Settings
• Check High DPI Scaling Override and set it to System (Enhanced)
Give that a try and let me know how it goes!

By @Aleke

FYI, those steps do not exist on macOS at all, so the suggestion won’t work. In the macOS equivalent of Properties (File > Get Info), there used to be a similar option to override HiDPI (in other words, force non-Retina scaling), but at least in the version of macOS on my Mac (macOS 15), it looks like that option is no longer offered.

I have never seen this problem, even though I use Lightroom Classic daily with two displays of different aspect ratios. It looks like a very strange problem in addition to the other odd, long-standing quirks that Lightroom Classic has with multiple displays.

I noticed my video is not very easy to view - looks like it has to be downloaded.  So here are before and after screenshots of what happens.

FYI - Normally your video would be previewable here. According to Adobe, the forums are temporarily having trouble previewing attachments because they are in the middle of a major forum software upgrade. This is affecting still image attachments as well as videos.

So you did nothing wrong, at least the forum lets us download the attachments so we can watch your video (that's what I did before my earlier reply). But it's nice that you added the screen shots as embedded (inline) instead of attached, because embedded images are still working OK.

Issue: When entering fullscreen using the macOS green window button, the image preview in the Develop module is incorrectly scaled and part of the image is clipped/cut off. The full image is not visible in the viewport.

Expected: Image scales correctly and remains fully visible in fullscreen.

Actual: Image is partially cut off (viewport height appears miscalculated).

Additional Workflow Impact: Avoiding the green button and using Lightroom’s internal fullscreen modes (F or Window → Screen Mode) avoids the clipping, but introduces a workflow issue where other apps open on top of Lightroom instead of in a separate macOS Space, disrupting multitasking. Users are forced to choose between a broken Develop viewport or degraded fullscreen workflow.

Frequency: 100% reproducible on macOS Tahoe.

Workaround: Avoid macOS green fullscreen button; use Lightroom’s internal fullscreen modes.

Can you please fix this?!

I’m on macOS 15 and I think I was able to reproduce the same problem once just now, but then it started working correctly. I tried that to test a possible second workaround: When it happens, does it help to toggle the module picker (top panel) off and on again? (Window > Panel > Show Module Picker, or press F5) That seems to force Lightroom Classic to recalculate the Fit magnification.

It still needs to be fixed, but if pressing F5 twice is a workaround, at least you can keep working in macOS Full Screen mode.
