It sounds like a required DLL/Framwork is missing. I'd try reinstalling to get all the needed components installed correctly.

This same thing is happening to me! What would you reinstall? Lightroom or some Operating Software?

The issue is not the OS. The slideshow builder was working until a week ago, and then the error occurred.
Thanks, Any thoughts?

I have several questions...

-- Exactly when does the error occur?
-- Are you using a collection of images? Try just a selection of images.
-- Use a Lightroom template (or a different one).
-- Try with one photo, one that you haven't used yet
-- Create a new catalog on an internal drive and import one image and try with that image.
-- Repair disk permisssions in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities
-- Remove the preference file: com.adobe.Lightroom3.plist file, located in [user name]/Library/Preferences
-- If you're using music, try it without music.
-- I'd try turning off all the options in the Playback panel, and seeing if the error still occurs.

-The error occurs when you try to export the video. You can view it on Lightroom all you want, but won't be able to export it to burn onto a DVD.

I will try those suggestions though! Thanks so much

I just repaired the disk permissions, that didn't work... Neither does only using two images instead of 60. When I've tried to delete the preference file it messed up my entire catalog. Why does that happen?
And I tried turning off all of the options in the Playback panel and it still occurred!

Adrianne,
I was going to start trying the lot. It seems that there is a problem with the program,
But the thing is it was working a couple of weeks ago.
Everrything seems to be going well until you try to export and then the error

"Cannot create the encoder instance, h264OutVideoNew failed.
error: h264OutVideoChkSettings - no library function available
error: No encoder library could be found!"

What does encoder library couldn't be found???
What is missing or path is corrupted?

I also took it into the Apple Store and the guy at the Genius Bar said that h264 is the most common video codec and all of mine were there and in the right place... sooo not sure what's going on
