P: slideshow module problem - Mac

LR 5.0 on a Mac (tried both Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air - all running 10.8.4).

When I run a slideshow and pause it, the arrows keys to go backward/forward are not working.

Created a "testuser" account (so no LR prefs that have been inherited) and copied over a test catalog.

Same issue.

Also installed it on work laptop where I've never used LR. So no old "cruft" on account or inherited.

Same issue. I use the slideshow module to pick/rate/flag and therefore have paused and gone back and forth while the slideshow was paused (e.g. to change rating on previous photo), then resume.

Bug? Workaround available?

You need to check the Manual Slideshow checkbox in the Playback panel now. I'll find out whether it's a bug or intended side effect.

Ah! Thank you - I totally missed that checkbox.

It is a change in functionality. I like the old way better because I can go through an event shoot faster, but go backwards when I need to.

BUT Thank You - This gets me moving again. If it's intended consequence, point me to where I can file an RFE (Request for Enhancement).

I've put a bug report in to find out whether it was intended. If it was, I'll switch this thread to a feature request (aka idea here)

Any news on this? I would like to have the old functionality back as well: automatic slideshow with use of left and right arrow keys. It's definitely not an enhancement the way it is now...

I have the same problem. It is a real pain not being able to navigate a slideshow.

Cross-referencing the 6 threads about this topic, dating back 4 years ago (I don't think the threads should be merged, since that would lose the replies and likes on each):

I posted the same problem more than 1 year ago. It seems to be that ADOBE until know unfortunally will not repair this Problem.

Please do it now.

Hi there,

I just updated to the latest version (LR 5.7) and unfortunately the bug wasn't fix again!

Could you please!!! hurry up fixing this issue? Why does it take ages to solve this problem? It's known for over 12 months.

Thanks!

Yea, I've had to change away from that old workflow. The "new" functionality was too limited for me to continue to work in that manner any longer. 😞
