P: Synced photos from LR Classic to LR CC show broken thumbnails in iPhone, iPad, and Web

Lightroom Classic version : 11.4.1

Lightroom Mobile version: 7.4.1

MacOS Version: 12.4

When I try to sync a photo from LR Classic to LR CC, in grid view the thumbnail is displayed as an icon of a cloud w/ an exclamation point, on iPhone, iPad and Web views. Additionally, when I hover over a thumbnail on Web, it displays a message of "Open Lightroom on [computer name] to continue syncing." despite both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC being open on the computer.

The thumbnail is displayed correctly in the desktop app. If I make an edit to a photo, the thumbnail then shows up correctly on all platforms.

If I roll back to 11.4 and sync photos, their thumbnails are displayed correctly.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Click the sync icon next to an album in LR Classic, or add a photo from the catalog to an album that has Sync enabled.

2. Wait for the Cloud icon in the upper right corner to display a green checkmark.

3. Open Lightroom on iPhone, iPad, or Web.

4. Look at the thumbnails in the album synced.

Expected result: photo thumbnails displayed

Actual result: icon of a cloud w exclamation point displayed

This is due to an issue in our cloud services - not the Lightroom Classic Product. We are working on a fix on the cloud side. You should need no action on your end while it is being fixed.

The issue is now fixed on the cloud side. New assets synchronized should be rendering properly and assets synchronized prior to the fix are being updated to facilitate their re-rendering. Thank you for your reports and patience.

Hi, I just updated to 11.4.1 in Lightroom classic. On HP Envy running Windows 10. Now when I add photos to an existing collection and then open the collection in the Lightroom app on my iPad they show up as a box with an I (error) message. Likewise when I share the collection from either classic or the app, following a link to a web page, the photos have the same error message. I have tried to create two different new collections with photos on Lightroo Classic and have the same problem.

Hey, all. If someone can help me figure this out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

My workflow involves uploading original files to Lightroom cloud, using the browser app. Once the files are uploaded, I open up Classic to make my edits. Classic synchronizes the files from the cloud, so they are now in Classic. Once my edits are completed using Classic, my expectation is that the edits would be "sync'd" from Classic and thus reflected in the files that were originally uploaded from Lightroom web. I.e., I should now see my edits that were made in Classic, in Lightroom in the browser. This expectation is not being met. Sync isn't "sync'ing" my Classic edits to the files that originally came from the cloud. Basically, classic is worthless for me because I can't get the edits made using Classic to show up back in the cloud, which is where I intend to share content.

Any suggestions to get this workflow to function are greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I have exactly the same issue since the last update: Lightroom Classic on Win 10, Lightroom on iPhone and Lightroom on iPad. On all platforms I'm using the latest version.

If I add new images to a collection, there is no thumbnail generated. If I open Lightroom in the Browser, as you mentioned, the thumbnails are missing.

This affects all new added images, that I'm adding.

Regards

 Michael

Apologies for the problem.  We are currentluy experience some delays with syncing edited files from Lr Classic 14.4.1.  We are working on the issue and should have it addressed shortly.

Hi Jay,

We are aware of this. You should see new images synchronized correctly and images synced before the fix are being updated and should start to appear as expected.

Merging this with an existing parent thread.

Thanks!
