We need a few details to help you. What version of Lightroom and operating system are you using? Is there any error message on the screen?

Only a thought: If you get the error message that the Lichtroom catalog can't be openend because another application has opened it then take a look here:

The Lightroom catalog cannot be opened because another application already has it opened - lrcat.loc...

If it isn't this error please post more informations as @Shivani Somayajula and @GoldingD  has mentioned.
