I work with analog film photographs quite a bit and am running into a problem with some high-res scans I have. It might be a computer issue, but I can't be sure. Essentially, I work with 16-bit TIFF files with a wide gammut range to include black details and white details.
With the latest version of Lightroom Classic, where I had some detail in my blacks in those photos from previous edits, and I was even doing some touch-up and color enhancements on those spots, are now blocking up as if they were jpegs with clipping blacks (a pale pasty gray with no texture). I looked inside my Lightroom preferences and confirmed I was still editing in 16-bit Prophoto RGB as my colorspace and resolution. I'm not sure how to fix this but thought I would put it out there. [Granted, I am on an older device - MacOS Monterey 2015 Macbook Pro with 16gb of ram using the i7 processor.]
One thing I did as a temporary solution. I switched versions back to 12.3 and re-imported the images and they seemed to keep their detail ok, but yeah, never experienced anything like this before!

you can change the process version in the Calibration tab. This will load the previous engine and allow you to compare.

Another interesting item to know would be: Does Camera Raw 15.4 show the same problem?

I'll give that a try because I wonder that too 👍

We can see if this is occurring in other LR installations. Select one of the problem TIFFs, do Metadata > Save Metatadata To File, upload it to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar, and post the sharing link here. Also post a full-resolution screenshot of what it looks like in LR 12.3 Develop on your computer.
