Good afternoon,
I've been having problems with GPU acceleration in Lightroom.
When I enable graphics acceleration, when using masks, it gets slower.
When I disable the graphics card, it gets faster.
I've already replaced the graphics cards and the problem persists.
I used an nvidia rtx 5060 TI 16 gigabytes
I used an nvidia rtx 3060 12 gigabytes
I used a radeon rx 7600 16 gigas
The problem occurs with these 3 graphics cards.
The system I have is the following:
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core Processor 4.30 GHz
Asus tuf Gaming x870 plus wifi
2 T nvme
64.0 GB ddr5 6000Mhz
Windows 10 Home
How can I solve the problem?
The drivers is up to date

Boa tarde,

Have you used the latest GPU drivers that have to be downloaded from the Nvidia web site? Windows will usually not provide the latest and correct GPU drivers.

The drivers I installed for the 3 graphics cards I tested are up to date. It is not normal for the problem to occur with all 3 graphics cards.

Hi, have you tried doing a clean install of the Studio drivers? if not, try that to check if that makes a difference.

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

I don't see anything that looks suspicious here.
There are several reports here of people struggling with the RTX 5000-series GPUs, and just recently someone posted they were giving up and going to an earlier Nvidia card. But that wouldn't explain your issues with the other two GPUs.

Adoe has been made aware of this issue as of today. They tried telling me to contact Microsfot Support to restrict ram usage, but Windows concluded that it has to be an issue with the apps design.
here is my second conversation with the support team:

my GPU processor is off for LRC

why it is off?

because when it is turned on the VRAM in my Task Manager spikes and stays way too high.

ultimately resulting in the application to stutter and crash

this is only for LR and LRC. i utilize Premier with Adobe and i never have any problems

shouldnt the GPU go back down to when its idle?

no, it will take a little memory as the app is overall running in background

also, why did we have to downgrade the update?

That could be an issue with the new update as well, that is why I downgraded the app as it might not be supporting your GPU

see how when idling it is to stay at around 2.1

its the app requirements, it will go up a like that, you are using lightroom classic and it is a big application, if the app was lagging or crashing then we could have said that yes it is an issue with the app but as far as I can see the app is working fine so I cannot see any issues with the memory going up
----------------------------------------------------------
Date: 2025-06-20 08:29:29 +08

From: Maaz (Adobe)
that is expected behavior of the memory when using a big app
----------------------------------------------------------

but it doesnt even use that much memory when i use premier.
----------------------------------------------------------

and that 2.8 or 5.7 GB memory is not only taken by lightroom only, there are other process that are running in background that are also taking memory

you cannot compare premier with lightroom, both are designed in different ways,

both apps algorithms are different

what processes are running in the background for Literoom that are continuously using VRAM?

as I said not only lightroom, other process are also running

can you see there are 80 background process that are running apart from lightroom
----------------------------------------------------------

how can you say that lightroom is only responsible for the memory

can you see lightroom only taking 0.3% of the total memory
----------------------------------------------------------

and you are saying that lightroom is the only app taking memory

it should be the same when i stop editing photos. i understand that the gpu needs to be working when editing, but when i am not editing the workload of the gpu should not be staying high.
