5-15 seconds to switch to next photo and other delays

Previous laptop LRC originally worked great, then over several updates became unbelievably slow.  Tried upgrading RAM to 64gb, suggested DPI compatibility hacks, different GPU acceleration settings, minor improvements but then always back to taking 5-15 seconds to switch from 1 photo to the next, delays redrawing the screen, delays doing any masking, delays delays delays.  Just spent $3k on a new laptop with a 500% faster video card, 500% faster CPU, and it's slightly faster for some things, but after making a few edits in a collection + doing some masking, I'm right back to basic operations taking 10-15 seconds.

Please let me know what I can do to regain my sanity, I cannot keep my photography business going with how awful LR has become.  I routinely have sets of 10-15,000 images from a weekend, spending 5-10 seconds to switch from 1 photo to the next is LITERAL torture.  And my video driver is already up to date, that's not the solution.

Hey tim_1665,

We are sorry about your experience with Lightroom Classic. Would you mind sharing the version of Windows you are using?

Would you mind checking the details below and performing the steps to see if it helps?

1. Go to Preferences > Performance and increase the Camera Raw Cache size to 10.0GB or more.

2. On the same tab, check the option to Use Smart Previews instead of Original for image editing and uncheck the option to Generate Previews in Parallel.

3. On the Performance tab itself, select off from the drop-down for Use Graphic Processor

4. Go to the General tab and check the box to Replace Embedded Previews by Standard Previews during idle time.

Once you have made the abovementioned changes, please quit and relaunch Lightroom Classic before testing the application.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Shivani

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.
