After an hardware upgrade Lightroom 6 wants to be activated again. The link to the activation fails with the message: "Your browser or operating system is no longer supported. You may need to install the latest updates to your operating system lightroom." which is obviously wrong since the latest Windows 10 updates are installed, as well as Edge and Internet Explorer 11. When I log into the adobe account to download the latest version von Lightroom 6 there only is a message "Lightroom 6 -- This installer is no longer available". However other machines with activated Lightroom 6 did show an update message recently.

So what is the procedure to get the software activated again? Can an updated version of Lightroom 6 be downloaded from another computer with activated Lightroom, can the activation information be copied from another computer, is it possible to start the activation with the Windows compatibility mode, is there a specific Windows path with has to be uninstalled to activate Lightroom? And what is the long term perspective, after wich Windows version was/will it be impossible to activate Lightroom and will there be an Update after wich Lightroom 6 will not work at all?

Try downloading a fresh copy of the LR 6.14 installer from a trusted third-party (it's no longer available from Adobe).  See here for details:
