after updating to v11 I cannot see any of my photos

After updating to v11,  I cannot see any of my photos.

I launched LR v11 from the new catalog and all the photos are listed along the lefthand side, but LR is saying no photos have been selected.  How do I get LR-11 to make them show up?

This eventually sorted itself out after a while, and now everything seems to be working again.
