AI removal tool

New Here ,
Jun 27, 2025 Jun 27, 2025

I would like to be able to view and select previous AI removal generations after making multiple generations - similar to the way you can in Photoshop. Is there currently a way to do that or will it be added in a future update?

You can already do that. Just like in Photoshop you can cycle through three variations. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/remove-tool.html

If you've "re-generated" several times, it would be very nice if the left/right variations selector would allow goting to them all (i.e. 1 of 6 after the 2nd generat, 1 or 9 after the 3rd,  etc.).  But, in the mean time if you back up to a prior step in the history panel you will get the set of 3 from that generate without it having to generate them again.

When I'm reviewing more than three variations, when I see a plausible candidate, I create a new snapshot using the "+" button in the Snapshots panel. Then it's really easy to hove the mouse over each snapshot to pick the best one.

I developed a plug-in that allow to keep more than 3 variations.
Due to a limit (that I could not workaround) LrC can only store 6 variations.

Of the 6 variations one is alas always unusable.

I frankly don't know why we can only have 3 variations, it makes no sense to me.

As @johnrellis said the workaround is to save each "Variation set" as a snapshot (or as we all know we can rely on history)

ARC supports Snapshots but  LrD doens't.

LrD's Versions feature is pretty similar to LrC's Snapshots feature. Certainly in the context of "saving" mutiple sets of variations, Versions can be used to do that.

@Jim Wilde LrD Local has no versions.
The only way to have more than one set of variations in LrD local is to generate an actual copy of the file.
