Close Lightroom CLassic Find a recent backup before the mistake. Unzip the backup catalog file. Copy this unzipped backup catalog file to the folder where the  current catalog file lives and paste it into that folder, thereby overwriting the current catalog which has the mistake. (You might want to make a copy of the current catalog just in case) Open Lightroom Classic, then import the photos.

Why can't you import the data? What happens? What is the error message?

You could use a recent backup from before you made the mistake, and then import the photos properly.
