Since latest update (week starting 16 august) my auto advance does not work properly. When switched on and using rating or pick, it advances 1 photo and on next pick or rating it then moves back to previous photo. Tried switching off and reboot and switch back on , Still same outcome. Any ideas on what has happened with update to cause or any other cause.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

As you are not running 4K and beyond, the option to use graphics processor may not accomplish anything. but:

Graphics Processor Info:
DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER (30.0.14.7155)

But, based on the GPU, it should not hurt. Older models (think 800 series and older) could actually foul up LrC if you forced that option.

If you have use Graphics processor on, try with it off.

Went into the Preferences and found the graphics processor set to Atomatic, switched it off and now advance working . Thanks for the help, didn't think of looking there. Something must have changed on update but happy now workflow back on track.

If you roll back to previous version, does the problem go away?

Try resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.
