Automatically select people, objects, and background in an image.

In the 'Brushes' panel, when I select 'subject', the background is highlighted. If I select 'background', the subject is highlighted. Then any slider affects the entire image. I am out of business until I can get this fixed.

You have mentioned two problems-

1) "background is highlighted"-  Check your Overlay settings!

2) "any slider affects the entire image"-  Check that you are adjusting sliders in the Masking Panel, and NOT the panels below such as 'Basic'.  Expand any disclosure triangles if the Masking Tool panel seems minimal.
