Camera Raw not available with Lightroom subscription

I have recently changed my subscription plan from Photography to Lightroom plan with 1TB but on downloading images from my camera into Bridge and trying to open them in Camera Raw I get a message saying Camera Raw editing is not enabled! Does the Lightroom Plan not include Camera Raw? How am I supposed to get my images into a format I can process in Lightroom without Camera Raw?

Can anyone help please?

Camera Raw is a plugin for Bridge and Photoshop.

Lightroom and Lightroom Classic have Camera Raw integrated – they don't use the Camera Raw plugin.

To process images in Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, you have to import them.

I think you have some sort of misunderstanding when earlier you said "How am I supposed to get my images into a format I can process in Lightroom without Camera Raw?"

You don't need to get your images into some format ... you just import them into Lightroom Classic and then you go ahead edit them in Lightroom Classic, which contains ACR built-in. You don't need a separate ACR, you don't need Bridge. In fact, very few people use Bridge and ACR as a step in the workflow before using Lightroom Classic.

When most people say Camera RAW, they are probably referring to the Camera RAW plug-in that can be used with Photoshop.
Since it's a Photoshop plug-in, you can't use it unless Photoshop is installed.

What kind of images are you talking about? You normally do not have to get your images "into a format that you can process in Lightroom". Anything you can process in Camera Raw, you can also process in Lightroom. A Bridge - Camera Raw intermediate step is not necessary.

So please explain what it is you are doing that requires Bridge+ACR before Lightroom Classic? Perhaps someone here can offer a different workflow that doesn't require the extra step of Bridge+ACR.

I import Raw images from SD card through Bridge, then open images in Camera Raw and do first edit deleting any unwanted images and rating any images I particularly like. I then save retained images as 16bit Tiffs in a new folder, rename them in Bridge and then open them in Lightroom Classic for editing.

Adobe and all of us will STRONGLY recommend that you pick one or the other. Almost all of the editing features in Lightroom Classic are also in Camera RAW; Adobe's intention is that you use one or the other.

I don't think the Lihghtroom-only plan includes Camera RAW or the paid features on Bridge.

The point that several people are trying to make is that you do not need the Photography plan. What you need is to change a workflow that makes little or no sense. If you prefer to download and cull in Bridge, then that is fine. But just import the remaining raw files in Lightroom, do not convert them to TIFF. That gives you better quality images to edit in Lightroom, and means you do not need Camera Raw at all.

WHY the export? Exporting to TIFF does not seem to make a lot of sense. You create very large files this way, and TIFF files cannot be edited in Lightroom Classic as well as raw files, because all the edits you made in Camera Raw are now destructively burned into the pixels. After culling and renaming in Bridge, which can be done without opening the images in Camera Raw, just import the raw images into lightroom Classic...

This can be done entirely in Lightroom Classic. In particular this viewing and deleting is easily and quickly done via Embedded Previews.

I then save retained images as 16bit Tiffs in a new folder, rename them in Bridge and then open them in Lightroom Classic for editing.

If you use Embedded Previews in LrC, then there is no need to save a TIFF, your photos are already in LrC and you can rename the photos in LrC if you want.

After you explained your workflow it is definately different to everybody elses.  As otheres have said, keeping your files RAW preserves a lot more editing opportunities, especially editing White Balance that is baked into TIFF files.

Fairly sure you can download ADOBE CAMERA RAW from an Adobe site. It is free.

Also, in your copy of Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, select All Apps, Camera RAW might be included, you are probably looking at Installed Apps.

@GoldingD I'm fairly sure Camera Raw is not free. You may be able to download it and install it, but it won't work if you do not have a subscription that includes Photoshop. As the OP already noticed.

OK, that is interesting, because Lightroom Classic is now included in the Lightroom plan as well. So the OP can disregard our advice and continue to use this odd workflow...
